About

Communication is at the heart of everything.

But communicating is a struggle, and therefore impacts everything you do. No wonder emotions like frustration, worry, and nervousness come along for the ride.

Struggling to communicate can quickly feel like your situation is permanent.

And once you start thinking there is no fixing it, it’s easy to give up.

But you are here, and you are not alone.

We will do this together.

Our work starts by creating a customized plan to meet your communication goals.

Then, we will practice different strategies to find the best ones for you and your brain.

Finally, we will celebrate every step forward!

Come for the communication help – stay for the newfound confidence.

Again and again, clients tell me that while we improve their speaking, their confidence skyrockets. And this confidence spreads throughout their lives.

Because communication, like life, is not concrete or black and white. They are both constantly growing and evolving – just like you.

About Me: Heather

That all sounds fantastic, but who is this Heather person?

Well, hi there; I’m Heather – a self-described Language Nerd.

As an undergraduate, I majored in linguistics and electrical engineering. People always told me that combination was unique, and I struggled to find a way to marry the two fields.

But now, after 15 years as a speech-language pathologist, I have found a way to use my unique strengths to serve my clients. My linguistic brain quickly hears the speech sounds and identifies the exact sound errors. My engineering brain creates a systematic approach to address these challenges.

Talking is part of the process.

And did I mention that I also really enjoy talking with people?

We will do so much talking! We will laugh and have a good time, while also working hard. I respect your time and want you to make quick progress.

Even when we are only ‘chatting,’ my ear is always listening. I want to give you strategies that work for you as quickly as possible.

As much as I love this work, I also love to play. When I’m not working, you can find me hiking with my dogs or baking something deliciously unhealthy.

Here is the important but potentially less interesting stuff.

I am a speech-language pathologist certified through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, and Utah.

I’ve been at this for more than 15 years, and I still love it!

Meet My Team: Brianna

Hey! I’m Brianna, a life-long learner and communication aficionado.

In fact, I have four degrees in communication! After earning a BA and MA in communication studies at Colorado State University, teaching public speaking at the university level, and working in the corporate world for a few years, I decided to pursue a career in speech-language pathology.

After working with clients in acute care, public education, and home health, I was still searching for the right “fit” for my skills and interests. Thankfully, Evolve Speech has given me the opportunity to merge my background in public speaking with my clinical expertise.

My approach to speech therapy

Together, we’ll work to address your needs and build your strengths as a communicator. We’ll work hard, but our sessions won’t feel like work! We’ll move toward targets with games, activities, and conversation—whatever motivates you to keep progressing.
And, progress won’t end when our session does. I’ll provide you with meaningful strategies and tasks that will help you keep practicing between our appointments.
When I’m not working, I’m probably enjoying the Colorado sunshine with my rescued ball of love, Kane, spending time with loved ones, or reading and writing.

My credentials and experience

I am a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed to practice in Colorado.
In addition to my 6 years (and counting!) of clinical work in speech-language pathology, I bring 7 years of corporate experience and over 2 years of teaching in the area of public speaking.
